With The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me set to release on Nov. 18, many gamers are excited to see what this means for the franchise.
Since The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me is the end of the “first season,” with an IGN interview revealing the plan is to have eight The Dark Picture Anthology titles, there is some curiosity as to what the new season means. Given the current game has historically ended with a teaser for the next one, players expected The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me to answer this question, something leakers have confirmed is present at the end of the latest story.
Season two will start with The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020. If the title sounds familiar, it was one of six titles trademarked in Europe rather recently, which may or may not contain the remaining titles. Of the remaining five, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Switchback, was revealed to be a PlayStation VR2 title, so it might be the others plus another spin-off.
The trailer itself is extremely reminiscent of the Alien franchise, or games similar to it like Dead Space. This time players seem to be on a space ship traveling to a faraway land until something goes wrong. Nothing is shown, only alluded to, along with formal confirmation this is the beginning of season two. Now, whether this means this season will be science fiction instead of horror, or if it will be another setting for horror is anyone’s guess, but it looks like a fresh direction for the series.
Expect a formal reveal, platforms, and other information around Nov. 18 when The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me releases for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series, and PC.
