It looks like Ubisoft isn’t nearly finished with the development the Splinter Cell Remake. This is because the publisher/developer is still waiting to hire a scriptwriter for the game.
Instead of using the same story and script from the original 2002 video game, the Splinter Cell Remake will alter things for a more modern audience. So this means there will be changes to the original game.
You can read the job description for the listing via Ubisoft.com below.
On Being a Scriptwriter at Ubisoft Toronto
Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern-day audience. We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable. As a Scriptwriter at Ubisoft Toronto, you will join the Narrative team and help create a cohesive and compelling narrative experience for a new audience of Splinter Cell fans.
Hopefully we hear more of the remake very soon.
