Ubisoft revealed the next two mainline entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and Assassin’s Creed Codename HEXE. These two titles will come after Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was also announced today and is currently set for release sometime in 2023.
While Ubisoft did not reveal much about the two upcoming titles, they did release a brief overview of what to expect.
Assassin’s Creed Codename RED
Assassin’s Creed Codename RED is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec (makers of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate) with Creative Director Jonathan Dumont. The game will be the next evolution of Assassin’s Creed’s open-world RPG design and take players to the long-awaited setting of feudal Japan.
Assassin’s Creed Codename HEXE
Following Assassin’s Creed Codename RED will be Assassin’s Creed Codename HEXE, which is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with Clint Hocking serving as creative director.

In addition to revealing these two titles, Ubisoft also confirmed they’re part of the frequently rumored Assassin’s Creed Codename Infinity.
ASSASSIN’S CREED CODENAME INFINITY
RED and HEXE will both be a part of Assassin’s Creed Codename INFINITY, a hub that will connect players through different types of Assassin’s Creed experiences, old and new. INFINITY will also bring multiplayer back to Assassin’s Creed with a standalone experience.
Ubisoft
Along with being a hub, Ubisoft revealed that Infinity will continue the ongoing modern day story from the various Assassin’s Creed titles. To further this, Vice President Executive Producer of Assassin’s Creed, Marc-Alexis Côté, added some further insight into this decision in an interview with IGN.
“I wanted [Infinity] to perfectly be a good entry point [to the series],” he said. “And that’s where extracting the meta story from our games and making it live at the platform level is an important change for the franchise.”
IGN
The same article notes Côté didn’t offer many details on how this story will be told going forward, but did offer this comment.
“The way we tell the story will evolve with time,” Côté said. “But the abstraction that we want people to have is [Infinity] is your Animus. It is your DNA Explorer on your desktop. You are the main story character.”
IGN
It will be exciting to see how this experience changes and evolves as we learn more about Assassin’s Creed Codename Infinity and the titles it contains.
