Microsoft Partners with Kojima Productions for a New Game

During the Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase, Hideo Kojima officially confirmed a partnership between Kojima Productions and Microsoft.

While nothing was formally revealed, the official translation of what Kojima said can be found below:

Hi everyone, this is Hideo Kojima. Yes, there is a game I’ve always wanted to make. It’s a completely new game, one that no-one has ever experienced or seen. I’ve waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it.

With Microsoft’s cutting edge cloud technology and the change in the industry’s trend, it has now become possible to challenge myself to create this never-before-seen concept. It may take some time, but I’m looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future.

Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase

Even if nothing was formally revealed, this might be related to recent leaks on an upcoming Kojima Productions title, Overdose. This was revealed earlier this week through Tom Henderson, freelance writer and noted leaker, via Try Hard Guides. Not much was said or show, but Henderson described the video they were sent as follows:

Early footage, that has been sent to me under the request of anonymity seems to show Mama from Death Stranding wearing a blue dress. The game, however, does not appear to be Death Stranding 2 and just features the actress who portrayed Mama, Margaret Qualley.

Footage shows the character walking through dark corridors with a flashlight in third-person, but it’s been suggested that the game can be played in first-person too. A jump scare at the end of the footage shows “GAMEOVER” followed by “A Hideo Kojima Game”… “OVERDOSE”.

Henderson

Supposedly after the leak was posted, Kojima Production reached out to Henderson asking him to remove the article. He declined, suggesting the leak is real, though whether it’s an upcoming title or related to this is anyone’s guess.
