How to Play Co-Op and PvP in Elden Ring

Elden Ring is indeed a challenging game thus if at some point you are about to give up, you can seek out help to overcome the challenge. Or if you want to prove you’re the best, invade another game for PVP.

Playing Co-Op and PvP in Elden Ring is somewhat similar to the Dark Souls games. Veteran players will find little difference in the mechanics of playing with someone but newcomers will need to learn the basics.

Without further ado, here’s our guide on how to play co-op and PvP in Elden Ring:

The Basics

Elden Ring makes it fun when you get to play with friends or someone over the internet in times of hardship. There are a lot of bosses that you can fight in Elden Ring and luckily, if at some point you find them too hard to beat, you can always have someone help you, or you can help others.

The basics of playing with friends are pretty much summoning them from their world to yours. In the early part of the game, you will be receiving an item that allows you to summon friends, or send them back to their world.

Summoning Items

If you need help defeating a boss fight, you will need to look for a golden summoning sign on the floor. Most of them appear just before where the boss is behind the golden fog. Unfortunately, the golden summoning sign will not appear unless you use an item called ‘Furlcalling Finger Remedy‘.

The Furculling Finger Remedy is a consumable item that can be obtained in two ways: buying them from a merchant or crafting them. Once you use the item, the summoning signs for both golden and red (hostile) will appear in your world.

Now, if you wish to help someone, you will need to use the item called Tranished’s Furled Finger. Using the item will drop a summon sign on the floor for other players to see it. If a player needs your help, they will summon you into their world with one purpose in mind – that is to defeat the area boss.

If at some point you do not like the person you are playing and you wish them banished from your world, that is the time you will be using the ‘Finger Severer‘ item.

Summoning Pool

One of the new ways to play with other people cooperatively that is introduced in Elden Ring is Summoning Pool. In every major area that you go to, you will find a small crucifix that you can interact with. Interacting with the small crucifix will send your co-op sign to a summoning pool in which people can see your sign anywhere in the area. If you are iffy in leaving a summoning sign and want the game to put it randomly, use the summoning pool.

Gold vs Red Summoning Sign

When you use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy that allows you to see summoning signs in your world, you will need to differentiate gold vs red summoning signs.

GOLD – allows you to play co-operatively with friends to take down a boss in a specific area where you were summoned

RED – Allows you to invade another world to do PvP

Setting Passwords

If you wish to have a friend join you specifically, there’s an option to set a password for you and your friend to find each other in the game. Simply open the menu and go to the Multiplayer option. Press the Y button to enter your password. Make it as unique as possible to make sure you are able to play with one another.
