Following a delay that pushed the Steam Deck out of its original 2021 launch window, Valve has confirmed that the portable PC-on-the-go will officially launch at the end of February. The first wave of the currently sold out Steam Decks will officially go live on February 25th, with notified buyers having a 72-hour window to confirm their order. Those initial shipments will begin heading to their new homes a few days later on the 28th.
Of course, not everyone is expected to receive their purchase emails at the same time. Valve is going to send communications out in waves each week following the release date. If you are in the first batch of buyers, the earliest you will receive an email notification is 10AM PST on February 25th.
Be sure to remain diligent because if you miss your email, your spot in the queue moves on to the next person. That is potentially good news for those who may be higher on the list in the Q2 batch, as they could be bumped up if enough people fail to finalize their purchase of the incredibly popular Steam Deck.
