Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate to Shape the Franchise for the Next Decade or Two

While we still don’t know much about Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, Yosuke Matsuda, CEO and president of Square Enix, revealed to Famitsu it’s being designed with the next 10 to 20 years in mind.

Dragon Quest XII is being developed taking into account the next 10 to 20 years of the Dragon Quest series.

There are parts that remain consistent with the traditional image of Dragon Quest, but new elements are also necessary. After all, as a brand we always need to innovate.

Based off the success we saw with Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age and Square Enix’s ongoing efforts to revisit and improve on the past this makes for both a thrilling and exciting prospect. Even if there are currently no details, it’s good to know Square Enix plans on not only keeping the franchise around but also expanding on what it means to be a Dragon Quest title.
