Over the years, Arcade1Up has done a great job of making many gamers childhood fantasy a reality, an affordable version of many iconic arcade machines. Following reveals of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men, it seems some other iconic machines are set to release in the near future.
Douglas Smith, better known as YouTuber Cool Toy, posted a couple images of Arcade1Up’s latest offerings. These include The Simpsons iconic arcade game, Tron, Ms. Pac-Man and an all new line of products directed at children.
In response to the potential leaks, a number of people have questioned the legitimacy of them over The Simpsons arcade machine. Those familiar with the original cabinet know it did not contain a trackball and its inclusion seems out of place. However, the debate is not as clear cut as one might think.
After examining other products currently offered by Arcade1Up, they’ve yet to do a solo cabinet release. Every machine includes at least one other game, a fact that holds true for the supposed Tron machine, which mentions Discs of Tron being included. In the case of The Simpsons, being a licenses series it’s a lot harder to justify throwing in another title, such as the iconic Punisher machine or another similar title in the genre, but there is another arcade game based off The Simpsons.
The second arcade game, known simply as The Simpsons Bowling, checks a number of boxes. Like the iconic beat ’em up, both games were developed and published by Konami. Naturally, a bowling game would make use of the trackball and linking both to the same series makes a lot of sense.
Like all rumors, don’t expect it to happen until it happens, especially since issues happen with licenses all the time but this seems like a relatively safe bet for an E3 reveal.
