Last week there were some rumblings of Team Ninja working on a Final Fantasy game, but no real details beyond that until today. A number of things were revealed about this supposed title, including an E3 reveal, demo and name, Final Fantasy Origin.
This all began a few days ago with Navtra posting people should expect Square Enix to have at least one more major Final Fantasy announcement. A later post indicates one title is a PS5 exclusive and another is a cross-generation Eidos game. Despite the lack of details, Navtra has previously posted accurate leaks, including Life is Strange: True Colors and Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to PS5.
Following that, SoulsHunt, a notable French leaker, further detailed the aforementioned PS5 exclusive. According to their sources, Team Ninja is working with Square Enix to make a game called Final Fantasy Origin. Not a lot of details were given about the title, though it was compared to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, making it similar to something like Team Ninja’s Nioh but a little different. And, perhaps most interesting, is that there will be an alpha sometime this summer to gauge opinions on the title. Navtra also confirmed it would be “Souls-like,” no specific example or developer was given.
Further comments start getting into more speculation, like it’s supposedly very dark and graphic, but time will ultimately tell what, if anything, comes to this. At the very least, we won’t have to wait long to see what comes of it. Given the number of sources and other people indicating there is a massive leak going on at Square Enix this seems likely but nothing, even accurate rumors, matter until it actually happens.
